DORO PESCH To Guest On WJCU's 'Metal On Metal'
January 18, 2013German metal queen Doro Pesch will guest on WJCU's "Metal On Metal" radio program live tonight (Friday, January 18) at 6:30 p.m. EST.
"Metal On Metal", hosted by Bill Peters (pictured below backstage at the Wacken Open Air festival with Doro),can be heard live every Friday night from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. EST in the Cleveland, Ohio area or streamed worldwide at www.wjcu.org.
Cleveland has always been a very memorable city for Doro and a place where she holds her fans close to her heart. On June 4, 2004 at The Odeon Concert Club, Doro was surprised on stage by fans at the end of her set when she was presented with a special extended 40th birthday celebration that included a cake, confetti, balloons, gifts, speakers honoring her music career and an audience-participation "Happy Birthday" sing-a-long that brought the singer to tears in front of the packed venue. It is something she still remembers and talks about to this day.
"Doro loves Cleveland!", says Peters. "She has told me many times Cleveland is one of her favorite cities to play. Doro has a deep and special connection with the metal fans here."
He adds: "I've been a longtime fan going back to her WARLOCK years. I run into her backstage at the Wacken festival in Germany every year. When she spots me, you can always hear her yelling my name and the SPINAL TAP 'Hello Cleveland' line throughout the backstage area. It's pretty cool and always draws attention.
"Some of my German friends think the only reason I come to Germany so often is because I am secretly dating Doro. [laughs] A heavy metal guy from Cleveland, Ohio USA could only be so lucky!"
In addition to discussing her forthcoming tour and recent recording activities, Doro will also talk her latest film venture. She has been doing additional filming on location in Switzerland this week for the second part of the Swiss film "Anuk - Der Weg Des Kriegers" ("Anuk - The Path Of The Warrior"). Doro will be reprising her role of Meha. The film, which is once again being directed by Luke Gasser, tells the story of a mountain tribe battling for their existence against dark hordes, 2500 years B.C.
Part one of "Anuk" — which marked Doro's cinematic debut — came out in 2006. The second part will be released at the end of 2013 and the soundtrack will contain music from Pesch's latest studio album, "Raise Your Fist".
